Pregnancy

Pregnancy creates different stresses on a woman's body. These may include increased ligament laxity, anterior tilting of the pelvis, limb swelling, and the superior migration of abdomen contents.

These changes can cause discomfort, lack of sleep, and decreased physical mobility. Massage is a handy tool throughout pregnancy as well as through labour. Studies have shown massage therapy to:

  • improve mood

  • decrease pain

  • improve neonatal health and development

  • decrease obstetrical complications

  • affect swelling in hands and feet

At Well+Able, we have excellent body cushions to help expectant mothers achieve total comfort and relaxation at the table.

Postnatal

Pregnancy lasts less than a year, but pregnancy's effects on the body can last a lifetime. Women's bodies shift to accommodate the growing child, which frequently results in muscle imbalances, poor postural habits, and other insufficiencies.

Assessing these insufficiencies and reestablishing proper posture and muscle balance is extremely important. Massage therapy is a great way to effectively deal with these issues and prevent any further pain or pathology.
